First Friday—Fingerstyle Elegance: An Evening with Thien An Nguyen

To kick off Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, SJMA welcomes back solo guitarist and music instructor Thien An Nguyen for another unique and compelling performance. Hailing from Vietnam, he has spent the last decade exploring the cross-cultural, expressive possibilities of percussive fingerstyle guitar, a technique that produces an intriguing visual performance as well as a rich, multidimensional sound. This singular performance will blend bilingual vocals, original compositions, and traditional Vietnamese tunes with pop, R&B, and rock classics.
